Rogge meets with Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao

Jacques Rogge, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), met today with the Chinese Prime Minister, Wen Jiabao, in the Chinese Capital Beijing - the host city for the next edition of the Olympic Games in 2008. President Rogge was accompanied by IOC Members: Hein Verbruggen (Chairman of the IOC’s Coordination Commission for the 2008 Beijing Games), Kevan Gosper (Vice-Chairman of the IOC’s Coordination Commission for the 2008 Beijing Games), Zaiqing Yu (IOC Executive Board Member) and Zhenliang He, as well as from the IOC administration by the IOC’s Olympic Games Executive Director, Gilbert Felli.

Commenting on the meeting, President Rogge said, “I had a very productive meeting with Prime Minister Wen Jiabao today. We discussed a wide range of Games-related topics and talked about Chinese sport in general.” He continued, “I was particularly heartened by the support and the commitment of the Chinese Government for the 2008 Games, which I expect to be of the highest quality thanks to this support and to the dedication of the leadership and staff of BOCOG and the enthusiasm of the Chinese people.”
