Report from Vice President - World Youth Sports
The 21st Taipei Summer Deaflympics were behind but what do you think of this grand event of 4 years? I am sure we have one phrase in common – the greatest Deaflympics ever! It is you that make this event successful. We also have to thank the Organising Committee and its local Government Taipei City for their great heart and much effort to make the 2009 Summer Deaflympics the most successful ever! Now we have to step forward to the next Deaflympics – first to 2011 Winter Deaflympics in High Tatras, Slovakia and then to 2013 Summer Deaflympics in Athens, Greece. But may I remind you that time flies too fast and then suddenlty it is Athens time and you will be needing to start preparing now through the regional and world championships before you arrive at Athens.
So with this program we welcome our new ICSD President Craig Crowley to our great organisation of ICSD. We wish him great success with us and are looking forward to excellent cooperation for next four years. We also wish our new member at large Vanessa Migliosi successful partnership. With our new board we also wish to thank our past President Dr. Donalda Ammons for being strong leadership for past four years with us, she indeed was on the committee for more than ten years, and wish her best of luck in her new path. We also do not forget Siv Fosshaug, Yang Yang and Dogan Ozdemir for their valuable contributions. Since we have our strong office staff in Frederick, USA in our Executive Director Tiffany Granfors, Technical Operations Manager Wayne Langbein, Sue Burnes and Terry Berrigan, it is very important for all of us to work together with the headquarter office.
Today ICSD has 104 member countries, but we are still motivated to bring more members and to this date of preparing this report we have 17 countries more who are in process of applying their memberships but we hope to see at least 10 more new memberships to be confirmed at the next ICSD Congress in High Tatra in Slovakia in February 2011. Anyone who wishes to become a member please do not hestitate to contact us and apply!
