Orienteering
I performed the local inspection in Cherkasy and Kiev in Ukraine on 17-20. Cherkasy is located south of Kiev and from Kiev from to Cherkasy nice long road, about 160 km and lasting approximately 2 1/2 hours. I met Vice President of Cherkasy Orienteering Club in Cherkasy. We visited the two hotels, and its good comfort. They took me out to look at sites and facilities. There are three forests at a distance of approx. 50-20 km around Cherkasy - there will be competition in long, middle and relay. I was pleased with the forests and the terrain is good. Condition is international, because Cherkasy Cup Orienteering for hearing have international competition each year. This is no problem, we will benefit from their event and get a chance to show our deaf orienteering. It will meet on July 25 to 30 WDOC 2011. Ukraine Deaf Sports Federation will send out invitation to all members ICSD shortly, but first ICSD Board needs to approve before sending out invitations to NDSF.
It was successful time for the orienteers from Chinese Taipei in the 2009 Summer Deaflympics and also for the South Koreans. Those athletes would bring excitement to the WDOC in 2011, this is why it is important for Asia / Pacific deaf orienteers to keep attending World Championships in the future.
