ICSD Video News: 2017 WADA Symposium

The 13th edition of WADA's Annual Symposium, held from 13 to 15 March 2017 at the Swiss Tech Convention Center in Lausanne, once again brought together athletes, International Sport Federations, National and Regional Anti-Doping Organizations, Major Event Organizers, WADA-accredited laboratories and other key stakeholders of the clean sport movement. ICSD Doping Control Officer, Mr. Artem Buerov and Advisor to the ICSD President, Ms. Xenia Morfopoulos were attending this event.

The symposium focused on the theme "Tackling our Challenges and Strengthening the Future of Clean Sport. It included three days of presentations, panel discussions and practical workshops, during which topical subjects such as the future of the fight against doping in sport, World Anti-Doping Code compliance monitoring, the protection of whistleblowers and the integrity of anti-doping processes were covered.

Highlights on Day 1 include a presentation and Q&A session with Professor Richard McLaren, who headed WADA's Independent Investigation; as well as a Roundtable discussion on whistleblowing with WADA"s Director of Intelligence and Investigations, Gunter Younger.

Over next two days, ICSD representatives have attended sessions such as Engaging Athletes in the Anti-Doping Process, Building a Strong Doping Risk Assessment and Testing Program, Optimising Therapeutic Use Exemption Management.
