Ice Hockey

With the 16th Winter Deaflympics just around the corner, the Organizing Committee has been busy putting countless hours of planning and preparations for what many would describe as the greatest event they have put together since the 1975 World Winter Games for the Deaf in Lake Placid. There will be no better place in the world than Salt Lake City to host such a World Class event as volunteers members of their community have worked considerable hours in organizing this event so you all have a pleasant stay and a rewarding athletic experience.

On the heels of this event, we will play host to six (6) Ice Hockey teams visited by the likes of Canada, Finland, Germany, Russia, Sweden, and United States. All games will be played at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex (Steiner Ice Arena) which has 2 state-of-the-art Olympic-size ice sheets with a seating capacity of 2500 plus and a high-quality sound system.

The Games provides everyone with an opportunity to meet athletes from other countries who will compete at their best level. The values to support the principals of fair play, team spirit, enthusiasm, honest effort, and good sportsmanship are exactly the values that will make this fabulous 16th Winter Deaflympics a success.

We are delighted that USA is hosting this event and wish all teams good luck and remember that competing and representing your country together through sport is important and not the winning.
