Colin MacDonald of United Kingdom Appointed as CISS Sports Director

Silver Spring, MD, 21 January 2002 - After careful search, the CISS Executive Board has the pleasure of announcing the appointment of Mr. Colin Macdonald of United Kingdom as the CISS Sports Director, effective immediately. His responsibilities and duties will include liaison with appropriate International Sports Federations, CISS nation members and CISS technical directors on technical issues.

Since 1993, Mr. Macdonald has been employed by the Federation of Disability Sports Organisation as Yorkshire Regional Resource Officer to develop and oversee organisational policies, practices and structures that promote participation among deaf people in sports at various levels.

For more than 20 years, Colin also works as a salesman and instructor at the Mountaineering and Skiing Specialist Shops and has received extensive training in mountain climbing in the Andes in Peru.

With his extensive knowledge and experience as the Alpine Skiing Manager and Outdoor Adventure Director for the British Deaf Sports Council since 1987, Mr. Macdonald was appointed in 1998 as CISS Alpine Skiing Technical Director to assist with the oversight of alpine events for the 14th Winter Deaflympic Games in Davos, Switzerland.

Switzerland's Toni Koller takes over as Alpine Technical Director.
