Barbara (Barbi) is CISS’s newly appointed Athletics Technical Director. She was born in Bad Homburg, Germany in 1946. Her family moved to Bonn in 1955 then again to West Berlin in 1968 before she finally settled in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1982.

Barbi attended schools for the deaf and later got an education as bookbinder and now works at the Royal Military Library in Copenhagen as a bookbinder and conservator.

Growing up, Barbi has been involved in athletics and gymnastics. She has been involved in various of athletics clubs such as Bad Godesberg Athletics Club, Kölner Gehörlosen-Sportverein, Athletics Club, Kolner Gehorlosen-Sportverein, Berliner Sportclub “comet”. She has been involved in athletics from 1962 to 1979. Aside from athletics, she also has been involved with handball and volleyball.

Barbi was a Technical Director for athletics 1983-1997, also involved in the Deaflympics 1985, 1989, and 1993. Also was actively involved in the European Championships athletic Technical Director in 1987 and 1991. Not only athletics but also with cross country in 1987, 1991, and 1994.

She was a board member of the Danish Deaf Sports Association from 1989-1994. She continues to be a leader for the athletics and school sports.
