Dear basketball friends!

First I would like to announce in mourning, Mr. Grammatoglou, deaf referee from Greece, died from an unfortunate accident in a fall in Arizona/USA on 24 July 2010. He was only 32 years old. He had officiated as referee in the 2007 World Deaf Basketball Championships in China, 2009 Summer Deaflympics in Chinese Taipei and 2010 U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships in Poland.

On behalf of the ICSD Basketball, Mr. Grammatoglou has left a huge void and will always be in our memory and remembered among World Deaf Basketball members and referees. Our sincere heartfelt condolences go out to the Grammatoglou family. For more information, see here.

2010 U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships in Lublin/POL
From 25 June until 3 July 2010 the U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships has taken place in Lublin/Poland. Polish Deaf Sports Federation and ICSD organized the U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships successfully. More on this complete report, click here.

2011 World Deaf Basketball Championships in Palermo/ITA
For site inspection I was in Palermo/Italy from 1 until 4 August 2010. I had met with the Organizing Committee, inspected the sports halls and hotels. More about my report, click my video report here.

The deadline date for final registration is over. I am very pleased to announce that for the 2011 World Deaf Basketball Championships, 16 men teams and 13 women teams will participate. That is a new record of all times at either Summer Deaflympics or at the World Championships!

For more information (accommodation, flight, transport, etc.) will come shortly.

Host search for 2nd U19 WDBC 2014 and 4th WDBC 2015 (or 2016)
For the next 2nd U19 World Deaf Basketball Championships and next 4th World Deaf Basketball Championships will take place in 2014 and 2015 (or 2016) respectively. Countries who are interested to host are kindly requested to contact me (basketballTD@ciss.org). The application to host Deaf World Championships form can be found here.
