The International Olympic Committee announced that it has received the Candidature Files of the five Candidate Cities bidding to host the Games of the XXX Olympiad in 2012. Paris (FRA), New York (USA), Moscow (RUS), London (GBR) and Madrid (ESP)1 all delivered their files before the deadline of midnight 15 November 2004.

The five cities were accepted as Candidate Cities by the IOC Executive Board on 18 May from a total of nine Applicant Cities, which also included Leipzig (GER), Istanbul (TUR), Havana (CUB) and Rio de Janeiro (BRA).

The IOC Evaluation Commission, chaired by Olympic champion Nawal El Moutawakel, will now analyse the Candidature Files and make site inspections as follows:

Madrid: 3 - 6 February 2005
London: 16 - 19 February 2005
New York: 21 - 24 February 2005
Paris: 9 - 12 March 2005
Moscow: 14 - 17 March 2005

The Commission will then prepare a report that will be published and submitted to IOC members no later than one month before the election of the host city on 6 July 2005 during the 117th IOC Session in Singapore.
