Deaflympic Flag Guidelines
The Deaflympic brand represents a core element of the organization’s identity, and its logo is central to maintaining and expressing this identity across all events. To ensure a unified brand presence, follow these flag guidelines carefully.
Design
The flag should display only the ICSD symbol, centered precisely in the middle. Do not include any text, such as “DEAFLYMPICS,” on flags used for Deaflympic events.
The flag color and logo colors must exactly match the approved Deaflympics color palette. This is particularly critical during highly visible moments, such as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. See the ICSD Identity Guidelines for specific color requirements.
For proper logo placement, ensure that:
- Blue is positioned at the top,
- Yellow to the right,
- Green at the bottom,
- Red to the left.
Further details on correct placement can be found under “Proper Logo Placement” in the Identity Guidelines.
Clearance Space
Adequate clearance space around the logo is essential to maintain visual prominence. Follow these clearance guidelines:
- The space from the top and bottom edges of the flag to the nearest tip of the symbol should initially match the distance from the logo’s topmost point to its center circle (see 'a' and 'b' where 'x' represents this distance). Then, reduce this distance by half (adjusting 'x' from 1 to 0.5).
- The left and right edges should have proportional clearance to ensure the logo remains centered and balanced. Refer to the “Measuring the Clear Area” section in the Identity Guidelines for visual guidance on clearance requirements.
Dimensions
Flags must be rectangular, with longer top and bottom edges. Two standard sizes are defined based on their use:
- Opening and Closing Ceremony Flag: This flag, intended for ceremonial events, should measure 180 cm x 260 cm.
- Venue Flags: For use within event venues, these flags should measure 90 cm x 130 cm.
For all flag types, ensure the ICSD symbol is centered and that appropriate clearance space is maintained on all sides to preserve the brand’s visual integrity.
