John J. Knetzger
Beach Volleyball Director
A versatile athlete, John Knetzger has participated in the 1993, 1997, and 2001 Summer Deaflympics as a volleyball athlete and the 2015 and 2019 Winter Deaflympics as a curling athlete. The 1993 team is still the only one in USA men’s volleyball program to have won any medal - a silver. As vice skip, John’s USA team earned a bronze medal at the 2017 World Deaf Curling Championship. A triathlete for the past decade, John has raced in over 30 local events and three USA Triathlon National Championships, capturing several age-group medals of all colors. He ran his first-ever marathon in Milwaukee and qualified for the 2020 Boston Marathon.
John was USA Deaf Sports Federation’s Vice President of member services for six years (2003-2009). He has served ICSD as a member of the Legal Commission chaired by the late Dr. Jerald Jordan, Technical Director of Volleyball (2005-2012), Technical Director of Beach Volleyball since 2005, and a member of the Technical Commission since 2013.
A graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) in computer science & engineering, John is a software engineer with Rockwell Automation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA since 1995.
