Iakov  Matveevich  Frenkel of Russia has been selected as the Assistant Technical Director for Football for the 2005 Summer Deaflympic Games.

Iakov began  his sports career in football in 1959. He  was  a member of USSR national deaf football team from 1969-1979.  I. Frenkel also played  on  a hearing football  team during the 1970's. In 1977 he won a bronze  medal  at the World  Games  of  the  Deaf in Bucharest (Romania). He also was a member of the championship team of USSR several times.

As a coach,  Iakov has made an unbelievable development progress in  the sport of football  for USSR and Russia. The football team USSR became the European champion -  in Belgium in 1991.

For  his  sport  merits  Iakov Frenkel was dignified a title "Honoured Coach of the Russian Federation".

Iakov  Frenkel  is  a  qualified specialist with a higher education in area  of  sport and physical culture. He is currently the President of Russian Deaf  Football  Union  and Vice-president of Russian Committee of Deaf Sport.  Frenkel  works  very well with Vyacheslav Koloskov, FIFA Vice-president.
